St. Lukes's, Old Crow, YukonOur Church Family: | More to come ... | Our Community: | Profile | Old Crow Home Page | Vuntut Gwitchin Government | Vuntut National Park of Canada
The Gwich’n community of Old Crow is at the most northerly point of our Diocese. Situated above the Arctic Circle, lies this community of approximately 300 people and the only way to get there is by air. Kayakers and canoeists are able to travel there by water in the summer and after long hours of paddling arrive in the community for a welcome break. St. Luke’s Anglican Church looks out onto the Porcupine River. The building is made of logs and has some beautiful stained glass windows. In the winter the church is heated by a wood strove and this has to be lit on Saturdays in order to get the place warm enough by Sunday morning.
